FC 27 Future Stars arrived on Friday, 9 October 2026, and it did not take long for Ultimate Team players to start arguing about which young stars are worth the coins. The campaign does what Future Stars has always done best: it hands a spotlight to footballers aged 23 and under, wraps them in special Player Items, and asks the community to bet on potential. This time, though, EA Sports added a twist that keeps the story moving well beyond the first card reveal.

A Campaign Built on Potential
Future Stars is an Ultimate Team promotion celebrating promising young footballers who could become major names in the coming years. The cards are not simply a snapshot of current ability. They represent what a player might become. That is the whole hook, and to be fair, it is a pretty good one.
The FC 27 version arrived earlier in the cycle than in previous editions, giving players access to boosted young talents near the beginning of the football season. The promotion ran for roughly two weeks, with two squads of 15 players each. Team 1 landed on 9 October 2026, led by 90-rated Vicky López and 89-rated Rio Ngumoha. Team 2 followed on Friday, 16 October 2026, headlined by 90-rated Rayan, with Marc Pubill and Kobbie Mainoo close behind at 89.
Team 1: Vicky López Leads the First Wave

Team 1 brought 15 young talents from men's and women's football into the promotion.
| Player | OVR | Position | Club |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vicky López | 90 | RW | FC Barcelona |
| Rio Ngumoha | 89 | LM | Liverpool |
| Mika Godts | 88 | LW | Paris SG |
| Myles Lewis-Skelly | 88 | CDM | Arsenal |
| Yoan Bonny | 87 | ST | Lombardia FC |
| Gilberto Mora | 87 | CAM | Club Tijuana |
| Jacobo Ramón | 87 | CB | Como |
| Tom Bischof | 86 | CM | FC Bayern |
| Lewis Hall | 86 | LB | Newcastle United |
| Lily Yohannes | 86 | CM | OL |

| Julian Hall | 85 | ST | New York Red Bulls |
| Jon Martín | 85 | CB | Real Sociedad |
| Josh King | 85 | CAM | Fulham |
| Robin Risser | 85 | GK | RC Lens |
Vicky López is the headline act. Her 90-rated RW card carries 90 Pace, 86 Shooting, 87 Passing and 91 Dribbling, making her one of the strongest attacking options in the opening squad. Rio Ngumoha is not far behind, and his 93 Pace on an 89-rated LM item gives quick-attack players a very direct outlet. Mika Godts adds 88 Pace and 89 Dribbling at LW, while Myles Lewis-Skelly offers a more physical midfield profile at CDM.
Up front, Yoan Bonny mixes 90 Pace with 85 Shooting and 84 Physical. Julian Hall is another speed-first striker option at 85 OVR. In defence, Jacobo Ramón stands out with 89 Defending and 85 Physical on his 87-rated CB card. Robin Risser is the goalkeeper in Team 1, with 87 Kicking and 87 Reflexes on an 85-rated item.
Team 2: Rayan Headlines the Second Drop

Team 2 introduced another 15 special Player Items, and the second squad leaned a little more heavily into defensive options.
| Player | OVR | Position | Club |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rayan | 90 | RM | Bournemouth |
| Marc Pubill | 89 | CB | Atlético de Madrid |
| Kobbie Mainoo | 89 | CDM | Manchester United |
| Paris Brunner | 88 | ST | AS Monaco |
| Mastantuono | 88 | RM | Fiorentina |
| Thompson | 87 | RB | Utah Royals |
| Brown | 87 | LB | FC Bayern |
| Alajbegović | 86 | LW | Juventus |
| Alex Scott | 86 | CM | Bournemouth |

| Kanjinga | 85 | ST | FC Basel |
| Jorrel Hato | 85 | LB | Chelsea |
| Peio Canales | 85 | CAM | Athletic Club |
Rayan is the highest-rated player in Team 2. His 90-rated RM item features 91 Pace, 87 Shooting, 84 Passing, 90 Dribbling, 45 Defending and 80 Physical. That is a card built for quick, direct wide attacks. Marc Pubill is the campaign's strongest centre-back at 89 OVR, with 89 Defending and 87 Physical, plus 83 Pace for a little extra mobility at the back.
Kobbie Mainoo's 89-rated CDM item is one of the more balanced cards in the promotion: 85 Passing, 90 Dribbling, 88 Defending and 85 Physical. Paris Brunner brings 86 Pace, 88 Shooting and 88 Dribbling to an 88-rated ST card. Mastantuono, also 88, offers 88 Pace, 87 Passing and 90 Dribbling at RM. Among the full-backs, Brown's 87-rated LB card stands out with 92 Pace and 87 Dribbling, while Thompson's 87-rated RB item has 90 Pace and 85 Defending.
Live Upgrades: The Part That Keeps Giving
This is where FC 27 Future Stars separates itself from the older versions of the promotion. EA Sports introduced live upgrades based on real-world domestic league performances. The cards wear their potential on their sleeves, but the upgrade system keeps one eye on actual fixtures.
Tracking began on 9 October 2026. The live upgrades are scheduled to be applied on 3 February 2027.
-
⚡ Players can earn improvements by reaching appearance, goal contribution or clean-sheet milestones.
-
🧠 The requirements depend on the player's position and league.
-
📅 NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and LPF players have a separate set of milestones from players in other competitions.
-
🛡️ CDM players are grouped with defenders and goalkeepers, so their relevant milestones are based on clean sheets rather than goals and assists.
-
🎯 Attackers and midfielders include CM, CAM, LW, LM, RW, RM and ST. Defenders and goalkeepers include GK, RB, LB, CB and CDM.
-
🔒 Overall rating upgrades are capped at specified ratings. An item already above those limits will not receive an overall increase from the corresponding milestone.
-
🧩 If an item already has a PlayStyle+, the PlayStyle+ milestone grants an additional base PlayStyle instead.
-
⭐ If a player already has a five-star Weak Foot, the final milestone grants five-star Skill Moves instead.
Only domestic league performances count. International matches, cup fixtures and other competitions do not contribute. That means some players could complete their requirements well before the upgrades arrive in February 2027. No prizes for guessing that the community will be watching league line-ups a little more closely than usual.
Future Stars Academy: Grow Your Own
The Future Stars Academy returned in FC 27, giving players a chain of four dedicated Evolutions. The idea is simple: pick an eligible young footballer and develop them into a stronger Ultimate Team item.
To begin, players need an eligible ST or CAM born on or after 9 October 2003. All four Academy Evolutions became available across the campaign:
-
9 October: First Academy Evolution
-
11 October: Second Academy Evolution
-
13 October: Third Academy Evolution
-
16 October: Fourth Academy Evolution
The in-game Academy preview shows progression from an 81-rated item to 82, 83 and eventually 85 OVR across the four stages. The final result depends on the eligible player and the applicable Evolution requirements. There is also an Objective that rewards players for using their evolved Future Stars Academy Player Item in matches.
Because the Academy is built around developing one player, it makes sense to choose someone the player actually wants to use. A card with a slightly lower starting rating but a better fit for the squad can be more valuable than a higher-rated item that never gets on the pitch. The jury is still out on which Academy picks will become community favourites, but the concept gives the promotion a nice long-term project.
SBCs, Objectives and Events
Future Stars included new Squad Building Challenges, with Player SBCs, Puzzle SBCs and additional rewards across the campaign. One featured Player SBC was Carlos Espí, who received an 85-rated ST item with 85 Pace, 85 Shooting, 73 Passing, 82 Dribbling and 88 Physical.
Objectives also played a part. The first week included the Back to Basics Exhibition, a Live Event requiring a 4-4-2 formation. During the second week, EA Sports introduced Ultimate Gauntlet 2. A new Flash Rush event was also announced, alongside additional Objectives, SBCs and Evolutions.
The PlayStyle Lab received an update during Week 2 with the PlayStyle+ Lab. That arrived alongside the first UEFA Star Performers eligible for PlayStyle+ upgrades beginning on 17 October 2026. These are part of the wider Ultimate Team content schedule rather than guaranteed upgrades for every Future Stars card.
Packs and Market: Spend Smart
Future Stars brought new promotional packs to the Ultimate Team Store. The launch packs included the Kickoff XI Pack, Rising Talent Pack and Next Gen Pack.
| Pack | Cost | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Kickoff XI Pack | 70,000 FUT Coins or 850 FC Points | One Gold Player Pick 1 of 2 rated 83+, one Gold Player Pick 1 of 5 rated 82+, and nine Gold Player Items |
| Rising Talent Pack | 35,000 FUT Coins or 500 FC Points | 10 Gold Player Items rated 80+ |
| Next Gen Pack | 35,000 FUT Coins or 500 FC Points | Seven Gold Player Items rated 81+ |
All items in those packs were untradeable. None of the pack descriptions guaranteed a Future Stars Player Item, so checking current probabilities and contents before buying is always the sensible move.
On the Transfer Market, Team 1 players such as Vicky López, Rio Ngumoha, Mika Godts and Myles Lewis-Skelly were among the headline items. Team 2 added Rayan, Marc Pubill, Kobbie Mainoo, Paris Brunner and Mastantuono. Prices depend on availability, attributes, PlayStyles and usefulness in competitive squads. Live upgrade potential can influence value, but upgrades are not guaranteed, and a market price can fall even after a strong real-world performance.
How It Compares
Future Stars and Destined for Glory are both part of FC 27 Season 1, but they focus on different groups of players and use different upgrade systems. Destined for Glory features players expected to make an impact during the current season. Future Stars focuses on young talents aged 23 and under, with upgrades linked to starts, goal contributions and clean sheets.
Team of the Week rewards players for notable performances in recent real-world matches. Future Stars celebrates young footballers and their long-term potential, so its cards arrive through a dedicated campaign rather than the regular weekly In-Form selection.
Final Whistle
FC 27 Future Stars gave Ultimate Team players 30 special Player Items to consider, including Vicky López and Rayan at 90 OVR, Rio Ngumoha and Kobbie Mainoo at 89, and a deep supporting cast across both squads. The live upgrade system adds a layer of real-world drama, while the Academy offers a development project for players who enjoy building rather than simply buying.
Before spending FUT Coins on a Future Stars card, it is worth comparing current attributes and PlayStyles with the alternatives already in the squad. Future upgrades are a bonus, not a guarantee. The best approach is to treat the card as useful now, then enjoy the extra spark if February 2027 delivers an upgrade.
